Avoriaz is getting ready for another action-packed winter season, with the official Avoriaz ski area opening on 11 December 2026 and lifts scheduled to run through to 18 April 2027, snow conditions permitting.
Perched at 1,800m in the heart of the Portes du Soleil, Avoriaz is one of the highest resorts in the area and offers direct access to an impressive 600km of interconnected pistes across France and Switzerland. With its snow-sure reputation, ski-in, ski-out accommodation and car-free streets, it remains one of the Alps' most popular destinations for a winter ski holiday.
Avoriaz Key Dates
Rock on Snow: 11-13 December 2026
The season kicks off in style with Rock On Snow. The three-day event brings more than 80 ski, snowboard and equipment brands to Avoriaz, giving visitors the chance to test the latest winter gear for free.
It is one of the resort's biggest early-season events and a great reason to head to the mountains for opening weekend.
Snowboxx: 13-20 March 2027
Later in the season, Snowboxx returns to Avoriaz from 13–20 March 2027 for its 13th edition.
Combining skiing and snowboarding with live music, concerts, après-ski, parties and a packed programme of mountain activities, Snowboxx has become one of the standout festivals on the Avoriaz winter events calendar.
