We had a sit down with Vivien one of the Directors of Mountly to get the lowdown on the launch, how its changing our eating plans in the Alps and to find out about his mountain life!
Vivien, great to meet you and firstly thank you for creating this awesome app! What is Mountly for those don’t know and how does it work? Its’ s a food delivery app. We work with restaurants directly to deliver food straight to your chalet or apartment. All you need to do is download the app (it’s free) select your ski resort and then browse the restaurants and order! In this region, we currently deliver in Morzine, Les Gets, St Jean, Montriond and La Côte-d'Arbroz.

Les Gets: Folies Indiennes, Basskour, Sush'ski, Gets Pizza, 412, As de Neige, Ice Burg, La Casseta, and Claudie Café.
What other resorts are you operating in?
Our operations span the French Alps across most of the major domains. This includes the Portes du Soleil, the Chamonix valley, the Three Valleys, Tignes, Val d'Isère, Alpe d'Huez, and Les Deux Alpes. We plan to expand to new resorts this winter, including Paradiski (La Plagne) and La Clusaz, with future plans to launch in Italy and Austria.
Food delivery in the Alps is a great idea! What was the "aha!" moment when you realised skiers and snowboarders in the Portes du Soleil desperately needed a platform like Mountly?
As mountain experts and mountain lovers ourselves, we realized several years ago that food delivery was fragmented or non-existent across the French Alps and beyond. While urban areas and seaside resorts enjoy various digital services, mountain regions have lagged behind in terms of digitalization and rapid access to information. We started with food because it is a universal necessity, and since we are in France, quality food is key, but we believe delivery can be a genuine game-changer for both locals and visitors. Our vision is to evolve into a much broader service platform.
How successful has it been since the launch? Are you seeing lots of orders coming in?
We launched in Morzine and Les Gets just one month ago at the beginning of July, so we are currently seeing the results of our early operations. For our first month in the valley, orders have exceeded our expectations from both locals and visitors. This is fantastic because we aim to be a local stakeholder rather than just a service for tourists. We are seeing daily orders from our numerous partners, whom we thank for their collaboration, and the feedback has been very positive. We have proven that the demand exists, and we are excited to keep building on this momentum.
For tourists arriving late on an airport transfer bus, can they use your grocery delivery features to help with their first night?
Currently, we operate a standard food delivery model with real-time orders from restaurants. However, we also offer pre-ordered "welcome boxes" through partners like Panier Montagnard. We are also preparing to launch full grocery delivery on the app in time for this winter.
Where abouts do you deliver to?
We cover the Morzine and Les Gets areas. Additionally, we deliver to surrounding sectors that typically lack walkable restaurant options, such as St Jean d'Aulps, Essert-Romand, Le Biot, Vallée de la Manche, Montriond, and Lac de Montriond.
Local business owners have hopped on board very quickly. How does it feel to see the traditional alpine dining scene embracing Mountly so fast?
We have received a very warm welcome from local establishments. We are thrilled to have rapidly built partnerships with such professional and passionate business owners. They recognize that adding a delivery channel is essential and that we provide the specific expertise and infrastructure they may currently lack. It helps them reach new clients, build legitimacy, and effectively expand their dining space to the entire valley.
How fast can a hungry tourists and residents expect their food to land on their apartment / chalet table?
We aim to deliver as quickly as possible. Of course, alpine delivery comes with more constraints than city delivery, such as snow, congestion, and steep terrain, but we generally deliver within 30 to 45 minutes.

Do all the Les Gets restaurants deliver to Morzine?
No, currently only Folies Indiennes and Sush'ski deliver from Les Gets to Morzine. We are very proud to now offer Morzine residents the option to enjoy Indian food, which wasn't available before!
Do all the Morzine restaurants deliver to Les Gets?
No, currently only Kamando and El Chalten deliver from Morzine to Les Gets.

What's been the best feedback you've had so far since launching?
From tourists, we hear that Mountly allows families to spend more quality time together instead of queuing at restaurants or cooking large meals after a day outdoor. From locals, it allows them to discover new food at home after work and makes hosting friends and family much easier.
What's next for Mountly? Would love to know about your plans for the winter season!
We plan to expand our offerings on the app, onboard new partners, and increase food diversity. We are also launching grocery delivery and adding new "experience" options.
Tell us about yourself: Skier or snowboarder? Both ! Anything that goes and slide on snow I do it ! Ski, snowboard, monoski, skitouring... Hiker or road cycling or montain biker? All three ! I'm very polyvalent when it comes to outdoor mountain sports. Can do col du Galibier one day, MTB in Chatel the next one and go hike in Vanoise national park to finish with !
