Greenawards: Morzine and Avoriaz rewarded for their sustainable mountain initiatives!
On Friday September 1, 2023, the first edition of the GreenAwards took place in Belgium, a brand new initiative designed to highlight and reward the efforts of ski resorts/brands in favor of a sustainable mountain environment.
Morzine, Avoriaz, Les Arcs and Méribel received awards for their positive environmental initiatives. Morzine and Avoriaz received the GreenAward for their AlpinExpress pass.
Developed by the Montagne Verte association, the AlpinExpress pass encourages holidaymakers to travel by train in exchange for discounts at the resort. With the AlpinExpress pass, skiers and snowboarders benefit from up to 10% discount on ski passes, ski rentals, accommodation and catering. Within the resort, a number of establishments and service providers are partners in this offer, including the custom-built chalet company Alikats, the hotel Les Côtes, the local brasserie Bec Jaune and the Morzine ski lifts. Holidaymakers can benefit from a 10% discount on the Morzine - Les Gets ski pass.
"Our aim is to inform, inspire and encourage local people to reduce their environmental impact. We also support businesses to become more sustainable." - Al Judge President of Montagne Verte.
Morzine and Avoriaz are thus continuing their drive to reduce the impact of tourism on the environment, since the resort has been committed to the Flocon Vert initiative since September 2021. Conceived by the Mountain Riders association, this distinction testifies to the resort's commitment to implementing concrete actions in favor of the environment, such as Go-Morzine-Avoriaz, which offers less carbon-intensive journeys.
