Flying to the French Alps could soon be even more connected, as easyJet announces plans to introduce high-speed Wi-Fi onboard its aircraft for the first time. The airline is partnering with Starlink to bring fast satellite internet to millions of passengers, allowing travellers to browse, stream and game while in the air.
For anyone flying to the Alps for a ski holiday or summer mountain escape, it’s welcome news. Whether it’s checking the snow forecast before landing, looking up your airport transfer details or sharing your holiday excitement with friends, staying connected in the air could soon be much easier.
When will easyJet introduce onboard Wi-Fi?
easyJet plans to begin rolling out Starlink Wi-Fi across its Airbus A320, A320neo and A321neo fleet in the first half of 2027, with installation expected to be completed by early 2028.
Starlink uses a network of satellites in low Earth orbit to deliver high-speed internet, designed to provide fast and reliable connectivity even while travelling at cruising altitude.
Once available, passengers will be able to connect their own devices to browse the internet, stream content and play online games during their flight.
What will easyJet's Starlink Wi-Fi mean for passengers?
The new onboard internet service is designed to make flying more convenient for both leisure and business travellers. Passengers could use the connection to:
Stream films and entertainment during their flight.
Browse the internet and social media while travelling.
Check flight information through the easyJet app or website.
Research their destination, including local weather, transport options and tourist attractions.
Stay connected with friends and family throughout their journey.
easyJet has also highlighted the potential for passengers to order items from the onboard menu directly from their seats.
The airline says the investment is part of its wider plans to improve the passenger experience while continuing to offer affordable flights.
Flying to Morzine, Les Gets and Avoriaz with easyJet
easyJet is a popular choice for travellers heading to the French Alps, particularly those flying to Geneva Airport for a winter ski holiday or a summer mountain break. Geneva is a key gateway for the Portes du Soleil ski area, including Morzine, Les Gets and Avoriaz. From the airport, visitors can arrange a private or shared airport transfer to reach their resort.
With high-speed Wi-Fi potentially available onboard from 2027, passengers could have another way to check resort weather, review transfer arrangements and plan activities before arriving in the mountains.
The rollout will take place gradually across easyJet's fleet, so onboard Wi-Fi availability will depend on the aircraft operating each flight. Travellers should check the latest information from easyJet before departure.
