Interseason hikes - lac nyon-Guérin
What to do in interseason? Let us give you some inspiring ideas. We drove up to the top of the Nyon cable car and parked up. The trail is easy to find ( if you are facing the cable car, turn around and it’s there ). There are lots of options. 1, you could hike up to the top of Pointe de Nyon, the sign post suggested that’s 2 hours. We did not have much food with us, so decided to walk towards Lac Nyon -Guérin and then onwards to the Lac Joux Plane.
Walking at an easy pace it took us 15 mins to reach Lac Nyon-Guerin and with the sun out, my goodness what a sight to behold. It is breathtakingly beautiful. A picnic table, various chair lifts set up as chairs, it’s a great place to sit and enjoy the views and sunshine, walk your dog, read a book, or even explore the smaller trails leading up to the Pointe.
We then decided to walk on further up to Lac de Joux Plane, made famous recently as part of the Col de Joux Plane, TDF and the Mont Blanc Rallye. We will upload the route for that in our next post, but for now enjoy these stunning pictures.
An easy and highly recommended visit for an afternoon. See map here:
Fact: Did you know the lake is actually man made to create snow for the snow cannons if needed in Winter.
As always:
Make sure you check the Chasse App for where the hunters are.
Make sure you take a rain jacket and spare jumper if it turns cold
Make sure you take water to stay hydrated, phone charged up, tell people where you are going and enough food to sustain you.
